RE:GENERATIONS is a opportunity to shape the future of dance in the UK and beyond. The conference will bring together dance artists, writers, academics and enthusiasts to explore current research in the field of 'dance of the African Diaspora' (sometimes referred to as 'Black dance' or 'African Peoples' Dance'.  It will also provide an opportunity to learn about diverse approaches to dance education and training.

Key-note speaker, Brenda Dixon-Gottschild (Professor emeritus at Temple University, Philadelphia), will set the scene for a series of exciting presentations, workshops and performances throughout the two-day event.

Hosted in the heart of London,  this event promises to be a highlight on the city's dance calendar in 2010.

The conference partners are the Association of Dance of the African Diaspora (ADAD), London Metropolitan University (host institution), State of Emergency Ltd. ( a dance production company with 20 years of experience producing and promoting the work of Black choreographers) and IRIE! dance theatre (a dance education company specialising in African and Caribbean dance that has been running for almost 25 years).

The conference also includes an evening of performance at Sadlers Wells Lilian Baylis Theatre on Friday November 5th at 7:30 p.m. featuring ADiaspora Collective, Movement Angol, Pair Dance and Tavaziva Dance. Delegates fees include admission to this performance. Tickets are available to non-delegates at £12 (no concessions).
